This work was inspired by Travelers seen by Insho during his stay in Paris. A fortune-teller's hut is open for business, advertising divination of one's luck in love, marriage, finance, etc. by palmistry, with cards or a crystal ball. The hut is a caravan, suiting the Travelers' nomadic lifestyle. The white wall in the center, with an unoccupied white chair placed in front of it, hints at the "Lost Center," the concept advanced by Hans Sedlmayr regarding the post-war social crisis. The painter's attitude toward his contemporaries who stake their destiny on non-human power can be read here.
