During the latter half of the 19th century and even on into the 20th century, many toys and games were more than just fun. Often, the game or toy taught a moral, good , or smart behavior, that adults thought children should learn. There were very likely several reasons behind this; one was that parents or other adults were usually buying the toys. And it is easy to understand. Today similar educational toys are everywhere. This 1910 puzzle was likely fun to put together. Made for a very young child, the image shows a bank president shaking the hand of a very young saver--bankbook in hand.
