The target assembly of the Karlsruhe/Pisa experiment which began taking data at the proton synchrotron in February 1970. The experiment was of the 'missing mass' type looking for neutral meson resonances and observing their decays into neutral particles. Major items of equipment for the experiment had been brought to CERN from the two collaborating research centres and measurement of half a million photographs, which were to be taken, was to be done at Bologna.
