Naturalis Biodiversity Center

Naturalis Biodiversity Center
Leiden, Netherlands

This pigeon has a feathery crest on its head. The western crowned pigeon is a very quiet bird, mainly staying on the ground where it scratches around for food. Although it can fly short distances, it rarely does.
Did you know it's a close relative of the dodo?
