Leadership, Power and Politics: Keira Mull

“There continues to be an evident gender gap in leadership and political participation around the world. Even when women outnumber men (i.e. America), female representation in government offices is not proportionate. But because of WOW, leaders of all levels are given a platform to empower girls and women to elicit change in their own communities, leading to a better and transformed world.”

Keira Mull is a recent biology graduate from Notre Dame of Maryland University. While there, she was a strong student leader through her roles as a resident assistant and tutor. Keira organized several events that empowered her peers such as the annual self-defense seminar. Additionally, Keira helped pioneer a student scholar exchange program where she conducted ecological research abroad in South Korea (Summer 2018) on the Hangang bitterling, an endangered fish species.

Keira has also completed a research internship at Johns Hopkins, where she conducted biological research on the inner ear after acoustic trauma. Keira has presented her findings of both projects and even received national recognition for her work. Currently, Keira is looking at MD/PhD programs to combine her passion for research and medicine.
