The green herring grew hands and feet that sprung from its face. However, not content with merely having human features, it attempted to magically grow wings and become the Garuda, one of the eight Buddhist demi-gods, so that it could be worshiped along with Buddha in the Mahavira Hall by followers.
The third frame is entitled “Herring Grows Two Arms and Becomes Half-human, Half-fish”. The green herring held its arms together in a devout posture.
