HIGH JINKS AT THE HOP FESTIVAL

Thousands of Londoners who are helping gather in the hop harvest in Kent gardens, took a day off today (Friday) for the second day of the two day HOP FESTIVAL at Whitbread Farm, Paddock Wood, Kent. Activities included "Tilting the Quintain" an old sport of Kent yeomen which has its antecedents in the tiltyard of Norman days, and the Obstacle race for Man, Woman and Child.
PHOTO SHOWS: Crack goes the lance, round flies the Quintain, and the "Knight" and her wheelbarrow - pushing "horse" dash past to avoid the missile as it leaves the post.
