A sketch of ‘Sir Walter Raleigh’s Book’ with dimensions suggests this was one of the items that was to be placed in the showcase in the Bloody Tower, where Raleigh had been kept prisoner during the reign of King James I. Raleigh spent much of his time as a prisoner at the Tower of London writing poetry and books, including his most well-known publication, The History of the World.
