The longwave transmitter dated back to Transmitter House 3 in König Wusterhausen, where, in 1920, the first broadcast transmission took place in Germany. It had 8 RS53 transmitters in the power amplifier, which provided 10 kW of telegraphy power or 5 kW of telephone power. It was used from 1926 by the Deutsche Welle for its university and teaching program. After the commissioning of the 35 kW high-powered broadcasting station in Zeesen in 1929, this transmitter was used for telegraphy and telephony purposes.
