1565: The Siege of Malta and Manila Galleon Trade Routes

In 1565 Suleiman the Magnificent, Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, sent 200 ships and tens of thousands of men to conquer the island of Malta. The first global trade routes between Spain, the Americas, and Asia were established in 1565.
