On a pleasant 70-degree morning, churchgoers make their way up the front steps of the16th Street Baptist Church, a vital part of Birmingham's black community for almost 100 years. Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the building, under another set of stairs, someone has placed twelve sticks of dynamite.
