"Book of the peace treaties and amnesties made with the Kings and Chiefs of the islands and mainland where we had arrived, being captains Gonçalo Gómez Despinosa and Juan Sevastián del Cano, and master Juan Batista, lieutenants of the armada that the Emperor our lord sent to discover the Spice Islands, and myself, Martín Méndez, accountant of the same."
List of the trading and diplomatic activity of the armada for the Spice Islands in the period in which it was commanded by captains Gonzalo Gómez de Espinosa and Juan Sebastián Elcano, and by master Juan Batista, from the death of Ferdinand Magellan in Mactán until the moment before the separation of the Victoria and the Trinidad on their return journey to Spain. It highlights the peace treaties and transactions arranged with various kings and local authorities of Borneo and the Maluku Islands; for this reason, this document has been traditionally called the Peace Treaties of the Maluku Islands.
