1907 Cadillac Model M

In order to improve production efficiency and usability, Cadillac started to experiment with standardized design and manufacturing of parts, so that they could be mounted on any vehicle of the same model. The Model M took the lead in adopting standardized technology for manufacturing, so the parts were interchangeable. This vehicle participated in the Dewar Competition held by the Royal Automobile Association in 1908. Cadillac‘s technicians dismantled and reassembled the parts of three vehicles at random; and then, the three vehicles were put through 800 kilometers of durability test driving, finally obtaining the championship.
