Before introducing 4½ Liter in 1927, Bentley has owned models of 3 Liter and 6.5 Liter. The appearance of 4½ Liter not only filled the vacancies in the displacement but also represented the advanced technologies at that time like four valves per cylinder, dual ignition system and electromagnetic motor. A total of 720 4½ Liter cars were produced with 3 body styles (Tourer, Drophead Coupé and Sporting Four Seater). During 19271931, Blower 4½ Liter achieved victories in several races, including 2 consecutive wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and forged the brands reputation.
