Before his Round Australia Trials successes, Eddie Perkins was a hillclimbing champion. Hillclimbing is a class of motorsport in which entrants compete against the clock to race up a hill. Eddie won the 1951 Championship at Rob Roy (Victoria) in the 1501 cc - 3000 cc class.
