Bolton Wanderers squared off against Manchester United in the 1958 FA Cup Final.
United had previously lost a number of their promising young players in February's Munich air disaster; of those who turned out in the 1957 final, only two - Bill Foulkes and Bobby Charlton - remained. United's hastily-assembled side would go on to lose 2-0, a Nat Lofthouse double proving enough to secure victory for Wanderers.
The second, however, was not without controversy, as Lofthouse had physically bundled United 'keeper Harry Gregg over the line. This incident is often believed to have led to greater protection for goalkeepers when facing such challenges.
