In 1958, Land Rover welcomed its 10th anniversary and thus Series II was born. In 1961, Series II's diesel engine was redesigned to increase the capacity till 2.25L. With the appearance of new diesel engine, the series was formally named as Land Rover Series IIA. Series IIA had a strong chassis to develop much more special models. Early Land Rover was an approachable brand. It was considered by many the most hardy Series model ever constructed. It is also the classic Land Rover that features strongly in the general public's perception, from its many appearances in popular films and television documentaries throughout the 1960s.
