"Wspólnymi Siłami!" (eng. In a Joint Effort) is a school magazine, intended as a monthly, one of the first of its kind. Published by sixth form students from a girls’ boarding school of unknown location. From its content, and especially from the articles on anniversaries and patriotic events (May 3rd), it can be assumed that it was published in Galicia, a crown land with internal autonomy (since 1867). Text in Polish.
The periodical was reproduced on a hectograph, whose prints typographically resemble a text written in careful, decorative calligraphic writing. The content of the magazine consisted of occasional poems and prose written by the students themselves, as well as scenes from school life presented in the form of a chronicle. For example, one can learn about a raffle organised for the benefit of a poor student to ensure her further education. The Editor’s introductory remarks suggests that the magazine was intended not only to reflect the current life of the school, but also to become a fond memory of the “school desk” period.
It is a great rarity in library collections, only the first two issues are known to have survived in the Ossolineum collection.
