An aala is a wall niche used to store various items. It is one of the most common types of storage furniture built into the walls in a wide variety of spaces. These two aala were built within the adobe walls of the same house. Mud relief work was done to create designs and the wall surfaces were plastered with lime. They were being used to keep books and a few clothes.
