The Dora Park develops around three key themes: the Dora river, its main feature; a metamorphosis of the existing site and its fine examples of industrial architecture while preserving the memory of the area’s industrial heritage; and creating a relationship between Park and City by connecting each park area with its surroundings so they communicate with the city rather than becoming a green oasis. The water garden extends among concrete bases, a hortus conclusus; the pillars of the stripping shed, the cooling towers and settling tanks are connected by an overhead walkway linking the area to the north to the stone gabions, aquatic vegetation, linear watercourses and tree-lined gravel paths on the other bank.
To the south, before the Michelin cooling tower, a series of natural elements were built around the Dora river: a flood basin, landscaped river banks and slopes designed to allow people to gain access to the water as well as a pedestrian bridge leading back to the stripping shed.
