The first festival thematic event of creation and production 《TEKTÕNICS》(2015. 11. 25 ~ 2016. 6. 30) of ACT Center is an exhibition to examine possibility of ‘New Making’ through technologies. The theme of the exhibition came from the idea that ‘making’ starts from imagination and goes through visualizing, abstracting, and materializing of concept, and the realization of this process is based on technologies. This event leads us to rethink about what meaning the declaration “There is no art that does not know materials” by William Morris who led Arts&Crafts Movement in the 19th century has in the present time of the 21st century.

The development of digital technologies has opened the era of immaterialism, and it induced lots of discussions on the definition of image, that is, how it is made and how it reveals itself. Photos, movies, media installation works which use light as parameter became a starting point which separates images from media. Light became the media by itself beyond making immaterial concept into images. Light makes us to percept and to experience laws of space and size through programming, calculation, and projection in a totally different way from that we already know.

The artists who participated in the exhibition spread ‘obstacles’ stimulating daily things through works. At the same time, this expands into the area of ‘New Making’ and provides new visual experiences to audience. Digital technology provides us with new digital and material as it is reconstructed and put into context again.
