This pre-war bungalow, supported on piers above the ground as a guard against flooding, follows the basic Malay house plan: a serambi (veranda) in front followed by the rumah ibu (house core), and the dapur (kitchen) at the rear. The owners volunteered to conserve and restore this Anglo-Malay style bungalow in 2009 as a lasting tribute to their grandfather as well as a memento of their childhood.
