The Postal Service commemorated the compact of free association with the Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of the Marshall Islands with a se-tenant pair of stamps issued September 28, 1990, in Washington, DC.
The Federated States of Micronesia stamp, shown here, features canoes in front of the state flag, while the Republic of the Marshall Islands stamp features Marshallese stick chart, canoes along with flag of the Republic.
Designed by Herb Kane, the stamps were printed by the offset/intaglio process and issued in panes of fifty.
