27A Study of a fortification for the Porta al Prato of Ognissanti

The sheet shows some sketches of the fortification’s project of the Porta al Prato of Ognissanti of Florence, carried out by Michelangelo around 1529, when the master was general governor and procurator of the fortifications. On the same sheet, there is a careful figure drawing leading up to the architectural drawings, considered not by Michelangelo. In the center of the sheet there is a wide representation of a starry bulwark instead, in the top part, we find three imaginative variation of the same theme.
