Darius Cobb (1834-1919), artist, worked in Boston. oil on canvas, gilt wood frame; portrait of Charles E. Moody; marked, signature on front, on back 'By Darius Cobb'; canvas 2'1"H x 2'6"W, frame 3'3/4"H x 3'4-3/4"W. A Bath native, Moody became a successful wholesale grocer in Boston. He invested in many large Bath-built ships, and later returned to Bath and helped finance the New England Shipbuilding Company. He owned one of the few houses in Bath that was on the waterfront - most of the riverbank in Bath was occupied by wharves and shipyards.
