VANGUARDS FOR CANADA
April 19th 1960 PAR 83011-1 (PNR-R)
Twenty VICKERS VANGUARD airliners for Trans-Canada Airlines are in production on two assembly lines - part of one line is seen here at Weybridge, Surrey. The Vanguard is Britain's newest and biggest airliner and has been designed to have great potential for the lowering of air fares on short and medium length journeys.
British European Airways, who are also taking 20 Vanguards, are to place the type in service (initially on the London-Paris route) on July 1.
