32c "Breakfast in Bed" stamp

Living and working alone much of her life as an expatriate in France, Mary Cassatt (1845-1926) became known for her tender images of women and children. “Breakfast in Bed”, 1847, captures both emotional and psychological intimacy. Cassatt was the only American to be formally accepted into French Impressionist circles.
