The Freake Limner (17th c.) takes his name from the subject of this painting, “Mrs. Elizabeth Freake and Baby Mary”, ca. 1671-1674. They express pride in family and genealogy, while the colorful details of clothing and jewelry reflect a certain stature in colonial Boston.
