The Postal Service issued a 37-cent Paul Robeson commemorative stamp in a pressure-sensitive adhesive pane of twenty on January 20, 2004, in Princeton, New Jersey. The stamp was designed by Richard Sheaff, Scottsdale, Arizona.
The twenty-seventh stamp in the Black Heritage Series commemorates Paul Leroy Robeson, who achieved worldwide renown as an actor, singer, athlete, and activist. Robeson is remembered not only for his prodigious talents as a performer, but also for his tireless and uncompromising commitment to civil rights and social justice.
Sennett Security Products printed 130 millions stamps using the gravure process.
