CO-917 Marie Harriman Gallery. [Carta] 1941 June 3, New York, NY [para] Maria Portinari, Rio de Janeiro, RJ. 2 p. [inglês][datilografado] Dear Mrs. Portinari: Please forgive my delay in answering your letter as I have been away from the gallery. I am sending you herewith a list of the Portinari paintings which have been sent for exhibition to the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. All the other paintings from the Detroit Traveling Exhibition have been returned to you. You will notice that we have retained three paintings from this group that appear on the enclosed list. The paintings in the Riverside Museum group are at present on exhibition in San Francisco at the San Francisco Museum of Art. This exhibition will close on July 17th and the paintings will then be shipped to you. I would like very much to have some of Portinari’s new drypoints. It is very kind of you to write me about them and I shall look forward to receiving them. The paintings which you shipped earlier arrived safely, as you know, and are here at the gallery. I regret to advise that business in the art world has been extremely dull and I am forced to admit that no sales have been made as yet. However, we are very hopeful for the near future. We had sent to you a copy of the Art News in which we publicly announced our representation of Portinari’s works. It is very exciting to learn that you may be visiting us soon again. We shall look forward to it with great pleasure. I trust I have given you all the information you wish and if I can be of any further service please let me know. With sincerest regards to you and Portinari, I am, Cordially yours, Marie Harriman Gallery By: Stephen Bowen List of Paintings sent to the Bershire Museum, Pittsfield, Massachusetts from the Detroit Traveling Exhibition: The Fisherman oil on paper Museum of Modern Art Woman and Child Running with Flowers lithograph “ Migratory Family “ “ Blind Man and Son monotype “ Portrait of Adalgisa Nery “ “ Cattle oil on canvas Detroit Institute of Arts Artur Rubinstein “ Artur Rubinstein Harassing Judas “ “ From other Collections: Morro “ Museum of Modern Art Studies for Rio Murals chalk 6 “ gouache 4 pastel 1 Girl’s Head ‘ oil on canvas Mme.
