<treasure no. 237> This celadon jar is of particular value in the study of Goryeo ceramics for the inscription at the bottom of the year it was made (993 C.E.) and the name of the craftsman who made it (Choe Gil-hoe). A kiln excavated in Wonsan in present-day North Korea in 1992 appears to have produced similar wares with a yellow-green ash glaze at the time. A shard with an inscription indicating the year 992 was also excavated at the site.
