    FOR FIRST PUBLICATION TUESDAY'S DAILIES 29TH APRIL 1969 WE'VE GOT A GIANT TANKER AT THE BOTTOM OF OUR ROAD ODS M4978 A 26.4.1969. A 253,000 TON TANKER - THE LARGEST SHIP BUILT IN BRITAIN WILL BE LAUNCHED BY PRINCESS ANNE ON FRIDAY (2ND MAY). THIS WILL BE THE FIRST SHIP THAT THE 18-YEARS-OLD PRINCESS HAS LAUNCHED. THE QUEEN WAS ALSO 18 WHEN SHE LAUNCHED, AS PRINCESS ELIZABETH HER FIRST SHIP, HMS VANGUARD AT CLYDEBANK IN NOVEMBER, 1944. THE TANKER HAS BEEN BUILT BY SWAN HUNTER AND TYNE SHIP BUILDERS AT WALLSEND. THE BUILDING BERTH HAD TO BE LENGTHENED AND STRENGTHENED TO TAKE THE GIANT TANKER.
