Drinking automaton

This curious automaton, symbol of the peculiarities which enrich Franco Maria Ricci’s collection, belongs to a typical production of some French companies specialized in the creation of devices intended to entertain the aristocrats and the royal court in the eighteenth century. If prompted by a coin stuck in the appropriate slot, the cheerful drinker pours “wine” into his glass.
