Photographs of The Masters Series: Massimo Vignelli "A Few Basic Typefaces" exhibition, February 22 to March 8, 1991, Visual Arts Museum, 209 East 23rd street, NYC. Text from the exhibition poster: "In the new computer age the proliferation of typefaces and type manipulations represents a new level of visual pollution threatening our culture. Out of the thousands of typefaces, all we need are a few basic ones, and trash the rest. So come and see...A Few Basic Typefaces." The third in a series of exhibitions honoring the great visual communicators of our time. The exhibition featured 16 pedestals featuring Vignelli designs using only four typefaces: Bodoni, Century, Garamond, and Helvetica.
