Prussia introduced an additional 4th class compartment coach in 1900. Previously, the military had stipulated a centre aisle and end entries for 4th-class coaches in order to be able to use them as a hospital wagon. Over ten thousand units of the construction type from 1904 were sold before 1922. It comprised a longer compartment for men and a shorter one for women with no connection in between. Simple transverse wooden plank benches provided 26 seats; there was also enough standing room for 34 passengers. The model was donated to the Transport and Building Museum by the Crull & Cie. Coach Construction Company, Wismar.
