A set of paper soldiers features a relatively new invention during the later part of the 19th century. The Little Folk's Army features machine guns, which were being developed at that time. Even more interesting, a former owner of this set glued extra -large bases on some of the soldiers and even carved letters into those bases. Were they someone's initials?
