Miquel García Membrado (1975) A record player from the seventies, which spins a record at more revolutions than desired, plays the voice if Fidel Castro, which feels metallic, like the voices of many orators and dictators of different political ideologies from the 20th century. The distorted (revolutionised) voice not only bears a semantic relationship, but has corporeity and objective presence and occupies a space delimited by two speakers which, like watchtowers, protect the location. The ensemble is completed with the sleeve of the record on which the speech was recorded. The author has managed to create a work that requires the presence of the spectator to begin a process that will continue by questioning the established power and mediatic devices it uses. Evidently, art is also one of these media. In the words of the artist: “I am interested in the fictional power of documents, which displaces their importance and re-contextualises them, establishing my own proposals in activist strategies relating to micro-politics.” 37th Julio Antonio Sculpture Award, 2014 Art Biennial
