The 57mm AZP S60 automatic antiaircraft gun was a towed, singlemount, automatic antiaircraft gun developed in the late 1940s to replace the Soviet 37mm antiaircraft gun. Deployed since 1950, the S60 was a short to mediumrange antiaircraft weapons system widely used by the Soviet Union and the Communist bloc. The Chinese Type 59 is a copy of this weapon. The S60 is characterized by a foldable ballistic shield.
The North Koreans used the S60 during the Korean War, and it is reported that North Korean forces still field a large number of these 57mm antiaircraft guns. The North Vietnamese Army also operated the S60 during the Vietnam War, downing large numbers of lowflying American aircraft.
