"Lost Heir," a card game named for a popular novel published in 1872, enjoyed much popularity in the early 20th century. The card game's popularity led to at least one board game of the same name. Milton Bradley's "Lost Heir" board game bears no resemblance to the cards. While the card game is a trick-taking game, inspired by the European game piquet, the board game is a race-style game. The board is marked for some of the characters in the novel, but that is the only similarity.
