The drawing shows three figures that get agitated and cover their eyes caught by a unexpected and blinding happening. The figures are identifiable with a study of the apostoles during the Transfiguration on Mount Tabor. The subject, extraneous to the Michelangelo’s work, allow to connect the study to a series of drawings (58F, 17F, 18F, 68F, 38F) that the artist carried out for his friend Sebastiano del Piombo that, in 1516, get the commission for the paintings for the Church of San Pietro in Montorio.
