Last of the internal targets at the Proton Synchrotron (PS)

Internal targets were the first means used to provide beams for experiment at the PS. Extraction of the primary proton beam, at first only to bombard external targets but later to supply all the other machines that now depend upon the PS, has gradually taken over.
