In this drawing Michelangelo attempts with the Old Testament accout of the Sacrifice of Isaac. We don’t know to which plan the tudy was destined, but the confidence of the stroke and the frenzied sequence allow to date it to a mature phase of the artist, dated between 1530 and 1535. The two troubled and dynamic figures, carefully analysed within the bodies anatomical definition, seems to suggest the subsequent development of the great fresco of rge Last Judgment in the Sistine Chapel.
