This big sheet shows several studies for the construction of a ledge and of the Ignudi’s figures for the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. The ledge here suggested, then varied in a more classical shape in the final work, is decorated with shells and oak leaves, emblems of the Della Rovere family, to which the client Pope Giulio II belonged. Between the various figures of Ignudi represented we recognize the studies for the Ignudo on the left of Cumaean Sybil and for that on the right of Jeremiah.
