Rubber toys first appeared in the late 1800s, but nobody knows exactly who designed the first rubber duck. Molded yellow rubber ducks showed up in the 1940s. Over the years, their design has evolved to the iconic floating and squeaking toy we know today. Modern rubber ducks are made of vinyl, not rubber.
