Hurd was an American artist known for his portraits, landscapes, and use of egg tempera and watercolor.
He was born Harold Hurd, Jr. in Roswell, New Mexico, but legally changed his name to Peter.
He studied at the New Mexico Military Institute and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
