Oklahoma City, United States

This cradleboard reflects the slipper-shaped style used by both the Hupa and Yurok peoples of northern California. Made from twined hazel rods and root fiber, these cradles feature absorbent linings and bowl-shaped basketry sunshades. They often included suspended charms and fragrant herbs. The cradle was typically made by the maternal grandmother, reinforcing generational care.
