A student of Hans Hoffman, the legendary teacher of so many Abstract Expressionists, Olga Albizu (1924 – 2005) developed a truly singular body of Abstract works, beginning in the 1950s. Her mastery of color and the strong expressiveness of her compositions, sometimes joyful and sometimes melancholic, set her firmly among the Abstractionists. In the sixties, her work became known internationally when it graced many albums by the finest interpreters of the Bossa Nova.
