FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE PRECAUTIONS AT WHIPSNADE ZOO. MJH/PR-RD. Since an outbreak of foot and mouth disease only three miles away from Whipsnade Zoo, strict precautions are being observed to protect the priceless stock of animals in the Zoo. A mat specially prepared with disinfectant is laid down just inside the gates at Whipsnade, over which all cars and pedestrians must pass before proceeding into the Zoo grounds.
