Strong Michelangelo

In this grisaille painting, placed above the scene of Michelangelo who supervise the management of the fortifications of Florence, Matteo Rosselli shows Michelangelo’s Fortress. The scene, designed by Michelangelo the Younger, want to make a show of his grand-uncle bravery, whom, after bolting from Florence, he returned to the city during the siege, to supervise the construction of the fortifications. The fresco shows Michelangelo in front of the city gate, met by a deputation of Florentines.
