Zenobia leads her army

The Cathedral of Segovia

The Cathedral of Segovia
Segovia, Spain

This tapestry is part of the "Zenobia, Queen of Palmyra" series. Located in the Chapter House, to the right of the Christ on the episcopal chair, it shows the moment when Zenobia and Odenathus ride into battle on two horses, accompanied by soldiers. The figure of the queen stands out due to its proportion, as in the rest of the tapestries. The soldiers appear in the lower right, with their backs turned, on terrain that evokes the desert environment of Palmyra. They are followed by two soldiers who give perspective to the tapestry with the army's standards, and in the upper right corner, a Victoria flies overhead with a laurel crown.
